Haldi ceremony, also known as Haldi function, is an Indian pre-wedding ritual. It is a very auspicious occasion in which the families of the bride and groom come together and pray for their well-being. The Haldi paste is prepared from turmeric powder, water and sometimes rose water. It is applied on the faces of the bride and groom by their respective mothers. This is done to ward off evil spirits and to bless the couple with a long and happy life together. Haldi ceremonies are usually held a day or two before the wedding.
