Easy and stylish neck design for Kurtis and suits.
A kurti is a traditional Indian garment that is worn by both men and women. It is similar to a tunic, and often has intricate designs on the neckline. In this tutorial, we will show you how to sew a beautiful neck design on a kurti.
Step 1: Cut a piece of fabric that is twice the width of the neckline of the kurti and about 4 inches longer. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise.
Step 2: Pin the fabric to the neckline of the kurti, right sides together. Sew around the neckline, using a straight stitch set at 3/8 inch. Trim the excess fabric from the seam allowance.
Step 3: Turn the fabric to the wrong side and press it flat with an iron. Topstitch around the neckline, using a straight stitch set at 1/4 inch. This will help keep the fabric in place.
Step 4: Cut 2 strips of bias tape that are each 2 inches wide and long enough to wrap around the edges of the cut-out neckline. Place one strip of bias tape over each edge of the neckline, covering the raw edges of the fabric. Pin in place and then sew around each edge with a straight stitch set at 1/4 inch. Remove the pins.
