Reuse your old sarees to make stylish gowns!
Sarees are a beautiful and traditional Indian garment, but they can be difficult to wear if you’re not used to them. If you have an old saree that you don’t know what to do with, why not upcycle it into a gorgeous gown? In this blog post, we’ll show you how to do just that.
What You’ll Need
Before you get started, there are a few things you’ll need to gathers:
-Your old saree
-A measuring tape
-Scissors
-A needle and thread (or a sewing machine)
-Pins
Instructions
Step 1. Start by measuring yourself. You’ll need to know your bust, waist, and hip measurements so that you can make sure the gown will fit properly.
Step 2. Cut the saree fabric into two equal parts. One part should be long enough to reach from your shoulders to the floor, and the other should be wide enough to wrap around your body comfortably.
Step 3. Make a belt out of the remaining fabric by folding it over itself and sewing the edges together.
Step 4. To make the bodice of the gown, take one of the long fabric panels and fold it in half lengthwise. Measure out a half inch on either side of the folded edge and cut along those lines. This will create two armholes in the bodice of your gown.
Step 5. Sew the side seams of the bodice together, then try it on to make sure it fits properly. If it’s too big or too small, make adjustments as necessary.
Step 6. To create the skirt portion of the gown, take the other long fabric panel and gather it along the top edge until it’s the same width as the bodice of the gown. Sew these two pieces together at the waistline.
Step 7.congratulations—you’ve now turned your old saree into a beautiful gown! Be sure to accessorize with some sparkling jewelry and heels to really make this outfit special.
