A paper wind chime is a fun and easy project that you can do with just a few materials. You can make your wind chime as simple or as elaborate as you like, and you can customize it to match your decor. In this blog post, we’ll show you how to make a basic paper wind chime.
What You’ll Need
To make a paper wind chime, you will need the following materials:
- Tissue paper
- Pipe cleaners
- Scissors
- String or fishing line
- Tape
- Pencil
Step 1. Cut your tissue paper into strips. The strips should be about 1″ wide and 12″ long. You will need between 10 and 20 strips of tissue paper, depending on the size of your wind chime.
Step 2. Fold each strip of tissue paper in half lengthwise. Then, fold the strip in half again. Keep folding the strip until it is about 1/2″ wide.
Step 3. Cut a small slit at the top of each folded strip of tissue paper. This slit will be used to thread the pipe cleaner through.
Step 4. Thread a pipe cleaner through the slit at the top of each strip of tissue paper. The pipe cleaner should go through the center of the strip so that both ends are poking out equally.
Step 5. Once all of your strips of tissue paper are threaded with pipe cleaners, it’s time to start attaching them to each other. Take two strips and tie them together at the top with a piece of string or fishing line. Repeat this step until all of your strips are attached to each other.
Step 6. To make sure that your wind chime is secure, tape the string or fishing line to one end of a pencil. Then, holding the other end of the pencil, swing your wind chime around in a circle so that the string wraps around the pencil several times. Tie off the string or fishing line when it is secure, and trim any excess string.
Step 7. Hang your new wind chime in a spot where it will catch the breeze, sit back, and enjoy the gentle tinkling sound!
