Easy way to dress up your doll using foam!
If you are a doll collector or enjoy making doll clothes, you will love this new method of making doll dresses using foam. In the past, doll clothes were made from scraps of fabric or old clothing. Now, with the advent of foam, you can easily and cheaply make beautiful doll dresses that are both durable and stylish.
What You Will Need
To make a foam doll dress, you will need the following materials:
- Sheet of foam (you can find these at most craft stores)
- Pair of scissors
- Pen or pencil
- Ruler or measuring tape
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Templates (you can find these online or make your own)
- Decorative items such as ribbon, lace, buttons, etc. (optional)
Instructions
Step 1. Begin by measuring your doll to see what size dress you will need to make. Once you have the measurements, transfer them to the foam sheet using a pen or pencil. Be sure to add an extra inch or two for seam allowance.
Step 2. Cut out the dress shape from the foam using a pair of scissors. You may find it helpful to use a template for this step.
Step 3. To finish the seams of the dress, use a hot glue gun to seam the sides and bottom of the dress together. Be sure to allow the dress to cool completely before moving on to the next step.
Step 4. Now it is time to decorate your dress! You can use ribbon, lace, buttons, or any other decorative item you like. Have fun with this step and be creative!
Step 5. Once you are finished decorating, your dress is complete! Foam is a great material for doll clothes because it is cheap and easy to work with, and it is also very durable. Your doll will look great in her new dress!
